The movie also correctly depicts the characters. The eldest son’s actual name is Philip Snedeker, The real life father’s name is Philip Snedeker, The mothers name is Sara Snedeker, and the youngest brother’s name is Bradley Snedeker. One thing that is shown in the movie is the mother’s niece staying with them. And in real life the niece Tammy stayed with the Snedeker family. According to the documentary, her mother and father were getting a divorce and it wasn’t going to good so her aunt, Sara, called her and invited her to stay with them. The movie shows Matt to have a radical personality change which is true according to the real life parents. Matt had become distant, dark, and violent. The one thing that Hollywood did add that was not true is the priest, Reverend Popescu. He was put into the movie to help solve the plot by bringing some enlightment to the characters.
What makes a movie scary is not the setting, or its characters, but the occurrences that happen during the movie. Hollywood justly depicts many of the events that occurred in real life into this movie. The first thing that appears in the movie is the mother finding the pictures of the dead who had funeral services in that house. The mother throws the pictures away. This is found to be true.
