Introduction The Anglo-Persian Oil Company which is now known as British Petroleum (BP) was founded in 1909 and is one of the world’s leading international gas and oil companies. The multinational British company’s headquarters is located in London, United Kingdom and is one of the five largest oil companies in the world. The structure of BP’s businesses are organized to deliver the energy products and services people around the world. Its upstream segment is responsible for their activities in oil and natural gas exploration, field development and production. Their downstream segment is the product and service-led arm of BP, focused on fuels, lubricants and petrochemicals, (About BP, n.d.). The BP Company use sophisticated technologies and tried-and-true techniques to find oil and gas under the earth’s surface. More recently, scientific techniques and new technologies have greatly improved the odds. Before BP put a drill to soil or to seabed, they use topographical maps, aerial photography, sound waves, 3D projections and other tools to help them form an educated guess about the size, shape and consistency of the oil or natural gas that lies undernea Companies in the news report that: th, (About BP, n.d.).
BP is one of the world’s leading oil companies on the basis of market capitalization and proven reserves. Its main businesses are Exploration and Production, Refining and Marketing, and Chemicals. Exploration and Production’s activities include oil and natural gas exploration and field development and production, together with pipeline transportation, natural gas processing and gas and power marketing. The activities of Refining and Marketing include oil supply and trading as well as refining and marketing.
