Overall, it is better for the child to have two parents, living in the same home raising their child together. Generally, the child will grow up and be a well-balanced child versus being in a home with a single parent. However, this does not mean that something will turn out wrong with the child. Children raised in intact married families: are more likely to attend college, are physically and emotionally healthier, are less likely to be physically or sexually abused are less likely to use drugs or alcohol, and to commit delinquent behaviors, have a decreased risk of divorcing when they get married, are less likely to become pregnant/impregnate someone as a teenager (Why Children Need Married Parents 2016). Where it is good for two parents to live together, it can be dangerous for the child if it is not a healthy happy relationship. Nobody would want their child to have to see violence constantly, or even at all. So sometimes it can be better for the child for there to have separated parents if they are going to have parents in the same home who cannot get along. Whenever the whole family gets to be together and they are used to this it builds strong relationships with the family and will also help the child in the future, so it is good to have family dinners every night, so one is able to talk to their child and just simply talk about their day.
