Abstract
After reviewing Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 and the required readings for week 5, I will write a summarization of the impact that developmental delays and the environment have on the learning needs of children. My 6-8 page paper will include three examples demonstrating the impact of developmental delays and the environment on the learning needs of children discussed in the week 2 written assignments. I will also discuss why is it important for educators to understand typical behaviors when planning curriculum and I will provide at least three examples in which I support my claim. If the teacher is able to read the questions then the child may be able to succeed. The classrooms environment can also affect learning. The classroom should be a place where children can feel comfortable and safe so that they will be ready to focus and learn. A child who feels comfortable in their environment will want to put their attention on learning where a classroom that is full of chaos and disturbances will have a negative effect on a child’s attention. It is very important for teachers to understand typical behaviors when planning curriculum because without an understanding of why a student’s behavior may be different from the behavior of the other students, teachers may feel that the student is just a problematic student. This can also leads to a chaotic classroom environment, which can cause a huge problem for everyone in the environment from the teacher to the students who may fail to accomplish their appropriate development as a result of the other student. It is very important for educators to have a thorough understanding of every aspect of development. School is a large part of socialization in children and it is critical that teachers know how to use the best way possible to encourage socialization in their students.
