Eating Healthy for a Better Tomorrow Anthelme Brillat-Savarin said "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are" and Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach said "man is what he eats". These men’s quotes were the origin of famous quote "you are what you eat” (Martin par 1) There has been controversies and concerns expressed for years about the obesity rates in the United States. Yes, I believe society fails us as a whole by all of the unhealthy food options like fast food and processed food. Society fails us when we are forced to turn to these unhealthy food choices due to our busy lifestyles. If there is ever a time to show real concern for our people’s health, it should be for our growing children of the United States. Where does a child spend majority of their time on a daily basis? They spend their time at school. What does the school feed them? The school system feeds the children these same unhealthy, processed food that they are encouraged to avoid in their learning institution. There are so many problems with unhealthy food in the cafeteria. Eating unhealthy foods at school at an early age can lead to bad eating habits for the rest of their lives. This leads to obesity in children, and continuing to adults. Currently over two thirds of states in America have obesity rates for adults over twenty percent and nearly 1 in 3 children are overweight or obese (CNN par 2). The purpose of school systems is to teach and prepare children for their future out in the real world, but…
