“Lifestyles have changed considerably over the years. With the hurried lifestyles of today’s families, quick and nutritional meals have become typical, and adolescents are adopting these unhealthy eating habits. Consequently, these adolescents pose greater risk to all aspects of development, including cognitive development." Due to the demands of the rush-day-to-day living of individuals, it is now but natural for them to prefer foods offered by fast-food chains or favor instant meals than home-made foods because it takes lesser time to prepare instant meals. It disposes the body’s chance to thrive and grow and do its daily tasks. Essential nutrients are needed to support growth and maintenance of the human body. “Nutritional food choices impact academic performance.” “Nutritious meals have been shown to increase attention and concentration, and overall academic scores are generally higher.” The practice of healthy eating will protect us against cognitive decline. The necessary nutrients we get from foods will serve as a protective barrier for our brain against radicals which could impair the performance of our brain. Eating regularly your breakfast and having meals at intervals, reducing caffeine and sugar intake, and avoiding binging on junk foods are some but few tips which will keep your academic performance at level. Healthy eating will “nourish your body, mind and spirit to strive, compete and perform in all realms of life.” On the other hand, an unhealthy lifestyle can cause you nutritional deficiencies. This can include “both physical and mental symptoms such as fatigue, confusion, dry skin, reduced immune function, dizziness and trouble learning.” Thus, it is imperative to students to eat healthy and be conscious of their eating routines. “With the right quality and quantity of the food taken to
