Explanation: in this quotation I can see that Eric has changed massively though out the play “-“ the pause in between his speech emphasis how sorry he feels and is finding it hard to take in. Also the word “forget” indicates that Mr and Mrs Birling are willing to forget everything that happened but he has become his own man who is learning from his mistakes and makes up his decisions which seem to be leading him to the right path. Overall we can see that he is transforming into a mature man. The audience watching this gain a high opinion for Eric. Priestley in this quotation tells us to not forget our mistakes but learn from them.
