In the Transformers 2, human handlers and Autobots are stationed at this island, and although this location is not frequently featured, it symbolizes the very essence of the US military. In the real world, this base has been used to station US warships ever since the US and UK took over the island. This is the island on which the Transformers, noble guardians of all that is good in the universe and allies of the US military and supposedly guardians of the same here on Earth, base their operation. In spite of the Transformers’ refusal to share their dangerous military technology with the US military supposedly for the sake of human safety, they seem to feel no concern over the fact that the base that they are using to fly out teams to battle evil robots – is launching airstrikes that blow Afghani children to bits
