Cadburys is a British confectionery company famous all around the world for selling a wide variety of treats from chocolate and beverages to gum in the United States. Cadburys is especially popular in places such as the U.K., Canada, Australia, and India.
Cadburys began in 1824 when John Cadbury opened his first shop in Birmingham, England selling tea and drinking chocolate which he made and prepared in his shop. In 1831 he bought a warehouse not far from the shop and began making his products on a commercial scale and by 1842 he was selling 16 varieties of drinking chocolate and 11 different types of cocoas. John Cadburys health began deteriorating and he retired in 1861 leaving the company to his sons, Richard and George who in 1896

In 1969 Cadburys merged with Schweppes, and American company and Cadbury Schweppes was born. This helped Cadburys become international and very successful in other markets. In 2003 Cadbury Schweppes bought Adams, the second largest chewing gum manufacturer in the world.Cadbury Schweppes demerged in 2008. In 2009 Cadburys became fair trade which led to tripling the sales for the farmers in foreign countries. In 2010 cadburys becomes apart of Mondelēz International, as many other companies such as Belvita, Oreo, Ritz, and Trident are apart of. In 2010 the American company, Kraft, bought over Cadburys causing an uproar in Britain as people protested the company to needed to stay British as Cadbury is seen to be apart of the British identity and is known as the nations traditional comfort food.
Cadburys mission statement is, ‘Cadbury means Quality: This is our promise,’ which means they promise customers that they will produce the highest quality of products.
Most of Cadbury’s products are available in the U.K. and their other main targets are South Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand where most of Cadburys product line is sold. Cadbury has adapted to the American Market by joining business with Peter Paul, a division of Hersheys making Chocolate for Cadbury in America. Many products in America are sold under Cadbury Adams for example Sour Patch Kids, Trident and Dentyne gum, Halls cough drops, and Swedish Fish but the chocolate is much different from the
