Ecology and the Biosphere Essay

Ecology, or in Greek translation "study home", is the study of the interactions of organisms between it's enviornment. While biosphere means the whole worlds ecosystem. Why are these terms so important? The reason why they are important to everything on Earth because they hold and shape all organisms that live within them. Without organisms animals, plants, and everything that we know would never be able to survive. If ecology wasn't organized and delicate, the system wouldn't be the same to the environment or to the organisms that are and were here today. Evolution, Extiction, and the formation of new species would have not taken place without ecology and all of it's many factors that are applied to the organisms and the environment. Some evolutionary changes would be camoflouge, increase in population, speed, and many others. Environments are essential to all organisms because organisms must live in some type of environment in order to survive. Every environment has abiotic factors, nonliving (chemical, physical factors such as temperature, light, and nutrients) and biotic factors, living (all organisms or biota.). And in every environment there are levels in which everything is separated. Organism is the smallest of the levels and is one individual of a single species. Population, next in the levels of environments, is the group of individuals of the same species living in the same area. Community, consists of organisms of all species that inhabit a particular area. Ecosystem, the largest, consists of all biotic and abiotic factors with the whole entire community in that certain area. With all of these divisions of environments, there are sub-divisions in Ecology itself. Ecosystem Ecology is the energy flow and chemical cycle through the various biotic and abiotic factors. Population Ecology is about what effect that popluation of the specific species in the area. Community Ecology deals with everything in the community which they all interact with each other. Ecosystem Ecology is all about energy flow and chemical cycle through living and non-living things in the environment. Last, Landscape Ecology deals with all ecosystems. All these sub-divisions of ecology completes and keeps the
