Where do you get your coffee? There are so many different coffee places around town to choose from. Of course the most well know coffee shops in New England are Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. It’s even hard for the little local coffee shops to compete with those big-named companies. I chose to evaluate Starbucks because I wanted to find out if it really worth spending the extra dollar or two on a cup of coffee. In 1971 the first Starbucks coffee shop was built in Seattle. The owner picked the name from the book Moby Dick by Herman Melville. “The seafaring name seems appropriate for a store that imports the world’s finest coffees to the cold, thirsty people of Seattle”. Maybe for someone who puts a lot of sugar in their coffee, it may taste good. I would rather spend the money to get a coffee I actually enjoy drinking. Even though I am a huge fan of Starbucks coffee, their food is not the best. I've tried eating there a few times and have not been impressed. I love the idea that they offer organic and healthier choices, along with the sweets. But it comes down to the fact that a lot of their baked goods taste stale. In this case, I would rather enjoy a Dunkin' Donuts muffin or bagel. Starbucks offers their costumers many different types of drinks to choose from. There are over fifteen different types of frappuccino’s, lattes and teas. There are also so many different types of coffee blends from all over the world. You can also change how they prepare your drink. Say your watching your calories but want to spurge a little bit. Just order your favorite frapp "skinny". A "skinny" Starbucks drink is made with nonfat milk and sugar free syrup. The average skinny drink has about 120 calories (for a grande). There is even the option to use soymilk for those who can't drink milk or do not like the taste of milk. You can pretty much customize any drink they offer and make it how you like it. Dunkin' Donuts does offer many different favored coffees and lattes, but they way they drinks are made your options are limited.
