Choosing what to become in the future is considerably easy but actually accomplishing that goal is a whole different story. It will be a long journey but will take many important decisions to get there. The first important decision is whether to go to college or not. Up until senior year in high school, students have access to all the help they need to get by. After high school is a new world, many students are on their own to get a chance to form their own life. Students must work hard to prepare themselves for the real world after high school because that is where it becomes more difficult which is why they should attend and work hard in college to have a secure future. Students should realize that if they go to college, they will have a better understanding and will be more efficient when working. With the extra education that is available, students can take advantage of this to sharpen their skills needed to excel in a certain field. Equally important for the future, choosing to attend college will create many opportunities in one's life. Looking at today's world, the economy is giving many people a hard time and it is very difficult to obtain a job because competition is very tough. When one have a degree in hand however, that will be an advantage. With an M. Ed in Higher Education Administration from Harvard University and a B.A in English from Occidental College, Kelci Lynn Lucier points out that “more job openings, more chances at promotions, and more flexibility with which jobs you take (and keep) are just a few of the doors that will be opened when you have your degree in hand“ (Lucier). Just by obtaining a degree from a college will give a huge advantage when it comes to job finding because employers seek applicants who show that they know what they are doing and what they want. According to the widely known website, Www.collegetransfer.net, “many jobs require specialized skills, knowledge and practical training that only a college degree and program can provide” (“Things to think about”).
