Child prostitution is a long-standing issue around the entire globe; the World Congress has gone so far as to label it a "contemporary form of slavery" (World Congress against the Sexual Exploitation of Children, 1996). While many felt that it was being contained in some manner, with today’s emerging platforms, the issue of child prostitution is growing at an unprecedented rate. Prostitution through webcams and child sex tourism are recent phenomena, whose evolution has brought the diffusion of child prostitution into an independent culture. The reactive investigation response entails authorities to investigate webcam sex crimes against children after they have been reported. However, crimes of this nature are rarely reported by either party. Only 6 people have been convicted worldwide of child webcam sex since 2007. Impoverished parents are, in most cases, responsible for forcing their child to perform sex shows on live webcam for money, justifying themselves in thinking that webcam sex is not as harmful as physical sex (Terre des Hommes, 2013) . In contrast, research conducted by Terre des Hommes (2013) indicates that children are mentally and physically "branded" as a consequence of this perverse scheme. The victims of child webcam sex tourism are forced to use sexual devices for which they are physically too young. The emotional consequences of webcam sex trigger feelings of shame, guilt, disgrace, post traumatic stress disorder, and destructive habits. Tens of thousands of children in the Philippines alone are exploited through child webcam sex tourism; the ease with which perpetrators are able to exploit weak, defenseless children and get away with it has made for the stark growth of the phenomenon (Terre des Hommes, 2013). Webcam child sex tourism is increasing in correspondence with social connectivity and communications technology into an industry of impoverished children being exploited by predators from wealthy nations.
